Accessible Website Design

$1,500.00$5,625.00

Poorly designed websites can create unnecessary barriers for disabled people, just as poorly designed buildings prevent some people with disabilities from entering. Accessible website design recognizes these differences, incorporating the proper website design techniques that support assistive technologies, thus enabling a better website user experience for all abilities.

Web accessibility is key to ensuring that disabled visitors have equal access to online information and services. Beyond this, under certain circumstances, it can be a legal requirement in the United States (Section 508, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and California Unruh Civil Rights Act). Please see the description below for more information on the specific services we offer.

At this time, we offer programming services to bring your website into compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).  There are currently three technical standards:

  • WCAG 2.0 was published on December 11, 2008.
  • WCAG 2.1 was published on June 5, 2018.
  • WCAG 2.2 is scheduled to be published in 2022.

Within each standard, there are three levels of conformance.  These are ranked in terms of difficulty and were adopted to meet the needs of different groups and different situations:

  • A (lowest)
  • AA (mid-range)
  • AAA (highest)
